Franceska Blackford
She Who Keeps Us in Business
My name is Franceska and I am an accountant. I believe I always have been. I’ve had other occupations and priorities but underneath it all I have been an accountant, always striving to obtain the accounting principles of balance, clarity and order in my professional and personal life.
I am not one of those accountants who quotes code section or who is unable to see the gray area of an issue. Instead, I am a woman who has learned an ancient accounting form and happily assembles the pieces of my client’s financial life into it. I envision myself creating individual mosaics out of ordinary forms, those lowly symbols of the most powerful substance in America (money). It is a creative process that helps my clients everyday. At best, it empowers them; at least it keeps them out of trouble and it always saves them money, which in our culture usually makes their lives better.
All accounting is based on an equation: assets = liabilities + owner’s equity. I have learned the ability to see the parts of the equation as they are shuffled onto my desk, reduce them to their basic form, and give them back to someone in a summation, a judgement of sort, that extracts a toll. It is a powerful role I play and I am humbled by it. I work everyday to earn the trust of all my clients, many of whom, like Karen and the Academy of Ancient Reflexology, I have worked with for more than a decade.
