Reflexology is a protocol of unique manual techniques applied to specific reflex areas predominantly on the feet and hands. These techniques stimulate the complex neural pathways linking body systems, supporting the body’s efforts to function optimally.
Authentic reflexology is not a massage! Unlike massage therapy, which addresses areas of complaint by directly manipulating the tissue, reflexology works on the hands and feet to shift the nervous system into a parasympathetic state (the only state in which the body can heal itself) so as to relieve muscular tension and pain and help to restore internal system imbalances.
Cultures all over the world practice their own styles of reflexology. My practice is centered on the conventional western style developed by Eunice Ingham, and the form practiced as part of Traditional Thai Medicine. My work is slow and deliberate, and delivered at a depth so comfortable you may fall asleep! Certification in aromatherapy qualifies me to safely use high-quality essential oils within my sessions.
♥ Combined Hand and Foot Reflexology
It doesn’t get any better than this! Working on both the hands and feet has shown to exponentially increase the benefits of targeted sessions. Together, we will decide how to split the time, based on your preferences and your health needs. This ultimate experience of relaxation begins with a warm-water soak and exfoliation. 100 minutes. $110
♥ A deeply relaxing and profoundly healing Foot Reflexology session that begins with a luxurious soak in warm water infused with pure botanical oils, followed by a gentle invigorating exfoliation. In addition to the conventional style focused on reducing stress and balancing internal systems, I offer a session designed to address plantar fasciitis or fasciosis, peripheral neuropathy, and tarsal tunnel syndrome. (See Kick Plantar Fasciitis to the Curb description below for the full program.) Who knows, you may be walking on the solution to many of your problems! 70 minutes. $85
♥ Thai Foot Reflexology is a session for the lower legs and feet that marries elements of reflexology, Chinese Tuina massage, Japanese acupressure and Indian yoga. The sequence of movements offered in Thai foot reflexology both energizes and relaxes the recipient, creating an experience unlike any other western form of bodywork. Thai reflexology was developed about 2000 years ago and is still taught today in the temples by Buddhist monks and as part of Traditional Thai Medicine, the country’s primary system of healthcare. It is a unique and effective method of improving circulation, relieving stress, stimulating lymphatic drainage and improving joint flexibility. Beginning with a warm foot soak, the session lasts 70 minutes. $85
Please note: wear long pants (or shorts) that can be rolled up to allow access to the knees.
♥ A soothing Hand Reflexology session that begins with a warm soak in water infused with pure botanical oils, followed by a gentle exfoliation. When most people think of Reflexology they think “feet”. In truth though, reflexology can also be offered by way of the hands, and in some instances is even more effective. Hand reflexology is one of the safest and most nurturing sessions you can receive. In addition to the full-body benefits of reflexology, this session is a very practical one for people who use their hands a lot and/or experience discomfort in the hands and wrists. 70 minutes. $85
♥ Kick Plantar Fasciitis to the Curb!
This signature program is designed to provide immediate results for people suffering from plantar fasciitis/fasciosis (PF).
I developed a personal interest in this condition a number of years ago when I started to feel the classic symptom of burning pain upon first putting my weight on my feet. Everything I dug up on the Internet told me to prepare for about a year of medical treatments to see relief. That was unacceptable to me, so I set out to learn as much as I could.
A great deal of research later and study with a doctor who specialized in the condition resulted in a program I created that saw my recovery in just three short months. Since then I have offered that results-focused program to others who are sick and tired of living with chronic pain in their feet and are motivated to do whatever it takes to heal.
Please note that this program requires a commitment. As integral to your success as the reflexology sessions are, the steady improvements and benefits you will experience are decidedly related to your commitment to follow through with easy-to-do practices that I will provide you. I will help you determine the source of your condition and work with you to design a workable solution that will allow you to get back to activities you once enjoyed pain-free.
The Kick Plantar Fasciitis to the Curb! program includes:
- an initial in-depth evaluation
- weekly 70-minute reflexology sessions for two months. These sessions are designed to relax the fascia in your lower legs and feet and release impingement along the S1 nerve root (a common cause of plantar fasciosis/fasciitis)
- a personalized binder of:
- – important information gleaned from research on PF: causes, prognosis, allopathic approaches, prevention
- – resources on items and ways to prevent the reoccurrence of PF
- – ‘homework’ and all the tools needed to practice your homework. You won’t have to run around looking for anything; I’ll take care of that for you.
- – a customized diary to keep track of your progress daily
- coaching. This is something I am very good at! Think of me as your personal cheerleader. Regular encouragement in person and via phone or email contact will motivate you to stay on track for reaching your goal of ending a life of chronic foot pain in a very short period of time.
- organic foot butter cream made with organic anti-inflammatory/analgesic essential oils
- assessment and evaluation at program end – ongoing self-care
I accept cash, local cheques and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express). Please call or email to discuss whether reflexology might be the answer you’ve been looking for. Or book online through Schedulicity, if you prefer.
